LEADER'S
EVANGELIZATION TRAINING GUIDE




The ACTS II Leadership Team
"Evangelization is for no one an individual and isolated act; it is one that is deeply ecclesial" (E.N. 60).

The Coordinators
The ACTS II Leadership Team consists of Coordinators who take overall responsi-bility for the ACTS II Process

Qualifications
Priority 1.

A Coordinator should be:
  1. A person of prayer convinced of his or her dependence on God; a person having a zeal and a loving heart for the Church.

  2. A person of faith willing to trust and to act without having all the answers.

  3. Mature enough in the spiritual life to overcome the temptation to spiritual pride, realizing that any good accomplished is the work of the Holy Spirit.

  4. A person who has the gift of docility: a willingness to be taught.

  5. A person who has a spirit of humility realizes that any gifts he or she possesses come from God and are to be used to glorify and honor him.

  6. Reliable: having a past record of fidelity to commitments made, even when hardship had to be endured and self-sacrifice was required.

  7. Willing to give up other involvements in the parish and outside the parish in order to give the time and energy needed to oversee the ACTS II Process.

  8. Magnanimous: willingness to give a large amount of time and effort to bring about an evangelizing community within the parish.

  9. Able to work with a variety of people.

  10. Self-confident.

  11. A stable personality.

  12. Able to express himself or herself.

  13. Flexible.

  14. Trusting: a willingness to accept the ACTS II Process as given.

  15. Sufficient emotional maturity to accept correction and exhortation in order to be able to correct, exhort, and call others to growth firmly but gently.

Priority 2.
  1. Theological background is helpful though not obligatory.

  2. Organizational skills.

  3. Effective communication skills.

  4. Teaching ability: able to present the content; to summarize and to assess the needs of trainees.

  5. Ability to delegate.

Responsibilities of the Coordinators
  1. Take overall responsibility for the ACTS II Process within the parish: recruit-ment, evangelization training, evangelistic outreach, development of the small groups.

  2. Work together as a united team.

  3. Give the ACTS II Evangelization Training to the parishioners.

  4. Make the necessary arrangements for the training weekends.

  5. Call trainees gently but firmly to growth and to exhort without fear of human respect.

  6. Meet as a Coordinators Team weekly to pray together and to evaluate all of the components of the ACTS II Process.

  7. Model through their own commitment the kind of commitment the trainees are being asked to give.

  8. Obtain from the Small Group Leader the monthly evaluation of the small group. (See: 1A, Appendix, p. 445)

  9. Have Small Group Leaders obtain monthly evaluations from the participants in their small groups (See: 1A, Appendix, p. 447).

  10. Keep the Pastor updated on the progress of the ACTS II Process.
